Jose Bautista Leads 2012 MLB Home Run Betting Odds

Chicks dig the long ball.

As a result, Jose Bautista has no problem with the ladies.

The general managers that used to play hot potato with his contract are now going to the restroom every time he comes to the plate. If it weren’t for injuries last year, he might’ve hit even 60 home runs. The fact that anybody is still hitting that many home runs these days with the steroid regulations and situational pitchers really separates the Adam Dunn’s from the Jose Bautista’s. So, it comes as no surprise that bovada.lv has “Joey Bats” as the favorite to hit the most dingers.

The current favorite per latest home run king odds on bovada gives Bautista 13/2 odds. But how can I give off the impression that this is a one horse race with Albert Pujols and Prince Fielder ‘s tummy’s growling? The two superstars that caused so much hoopla this offseason have found themselves in a great situation with new teams. Every team around knows how cranky they can get at the plate when they haven’t had their fastball sandwiches. Now that they have moved over to the American League, the AL is now referred to as “Where the wild things are”. Pujols is favored slightly better than Fielder with his 9/1 odds to the new life-size Tiger’s 10/1 odds to be king.

With the NL losing two of it’s biggest home run contributors, it makes this year the perfect time for the young bucks to make a move into the spotlight. The possible heir’s to be the NL’s best includes a new named-same swing Giancarlo Stanton, 2011 MVP Ryan Braun, Matt Kemp, and muscly-armed second basemen Dan Uggla. If home runs were hit by the size of the someones neck, Uggla would have already reached 700. Sadly, the art of the deep souvenier is more complicated than looking like the New York Mets player from “Rookie of the Year”.

Braun, Stanton, and Kemp are just young punks compared to the vets like Pujols and Adrian Gonzalez, but they’re definitely capable of a 40+ homer season. Stanton is the favorite in the NL with 9/1 odds that actually tie Pujols, with Braun at 20/1 odds behind Kemp’s 18/1. The two big headscratcher’s to me on bovada’s odds list are Mark Reynolds and Adam Dunn.

Dunn is currently getting 25/1 odds while Reynolds gets 18/1. The real favorites here when it comes down to it are Pujols and Bautista. Pujols had a down year last season and still bonked 36 homers. I don’t know about you, but I’d love to have that kind of off year. Still, there’s always room for a surprise.
