Texas Rangers Vs. Boston Red Sox Betting Odds For April 17, 2012

The Texas Rangers have suffered.

Losing two straight World Series is tough. Losing the ace of your staff to a division rival is tougher.

Yet, the Rangers apparently aren’t feeling the affects. They’ve won all three of their road games to start the year, and look for their first 4-0 start in 20 years Tuesday night.

Texas travels to Fenway to take on the struggling Boston Red Sox. Bovada is favoring the Red Sox by 1 1/2 runs with a -117 moneyline.

Despite winning three of four during their first home series, the Red Sox are still mired in an off-field controversy centered around manager Bobby Valentine and Kevin Youkilis. Valentine questioned his toughness and preparedness, although has since apologized.

The veteran infielder is only hitting .200 so far this year and may be held out of tonight’s game with a groin injury.

“I don’t know if he accepted my apology,” Valentine told the Associated Press. “It was sincere.”

Meanwhile, the Rangers are just rolling along. Texas’ 3-0 road start is the team’s best since 1999. Things figure to slow down, though, as the team will play three series’ in a row against playoff clubs from 2011.

“They’re chasing us,” second baseman Ian Kinsler said. “It shouldn’t matter to us. We’re not chasing them. Obviously, they are some of the best teams in the American League, but we feel like it’s got to come through us.”

Outfielder Josh Hamilton is off to a torrid start after a difficult offseason. He wrapped up his last series against the Minnesota Twins, hitting 6 for 13 with two doubles and two homers.

“He’s locked in. He’s doing everything,” manager Ron Washington told the team website. “He’s using all the fields. He’s not missing mistakes. He’s playing tremendous defense.”

John Lester will get the task of slowing him down for the Red Sox. The lefty hasn’t had a lot of run support so far this year, but is 3-1 career against Texas with a 3.48 ERA.
