New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox Betting Odds For April 20, 2012

The Boston Red Sox will be honoring 100 years at Fenway all year long, but their first meeting with the New York Yankees doesn’t have much to be celebrated.

Both teams come limping into Fenway for another historic series Friday night, both trying to shake out of slumps.

The game will be played on the exact centennial anniversary of their first meeting at Fenway, where the Red Sox won in 11 innings on a Tris Speaker hit.

Boston has lost three-straight after a nine-game road trip, and enter the series a paltry 4-8 overall.

“We didn’t pull it off in the end. We had some good at-bats,” said Kevin Youkilis of the team’s loss to Texas Wednesday night. “It’s nice to hit a home run, but when you don’t win the ballgame, it really doesn’t matter.”

Curtis Granderson appeared to shake out of his personal slump with three bombs last night against the Minnesota Twins, that helped the Yankees rally.

“A lot of work went into today before we actually stepped onto the field. Had some big issues with timing,” said Granderson after the game.

On Bovada’s MLB Player Props page, bettors will receive a +325 payout of Granderson hits another homer Friday.

Kind of a bad time to see Clay Buchholz, though. Granderson is a career 0 for 11 against the Red Sox starter, who gets the start Friday night. He’s 2-3 against New York, with a 5.59 ERA and has been worse against his rivals at home.

Meanwhile, New York shortstop Derek Jeter continued his hot streak to start the year and enters the series with a 10-game hitting streak. He’s hitting .373 on the year and had an RBI last night. He’s 5 for 18 against Buchholz.

Bovada is favoring New York by 1 1/2 runs, with a -117 moneyline.
