It has to happen eventually. Right? The Boston Red Sox have been knocking at the door for weeks now and finally look to break the .500 mark when they start a three-game set with the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday.

The Cincinnati Reds have proven their mettle by toasting the NL East-leading Atlanta Braves this week. They go for a sweep on Thursday in hopes to finally reach first in their own division.
Cincinnati trails the St. Louis Cardinals by just one game.

Philip Humber may have built a good reputation after he threw the first perfect game of the season, but that might be confusing bettors. As a general rule, when Humber starts at home, shy away from the White Sox.

The Cleveland Indians jumped out to the AL Central lead with a great April, but few have really bought into them remaining there through September. As long as they keep fighting off the Detroit Tigers like they did last night, though, we might have to reconsider.

Well that didn’t work out too well.
The Boston Red Sox, who had just gotten back to .500 on Monday, tried to adjust their roster last night and frowned big time. After activating Kevin Youkilis from the DL, manager Bobby Valentine left Will Middlebrooks at third, shifted Youk to first and put Adrian Gonzalez in right field for the first time in his career. The result: two hits and a return to the sub-.500 club. It’s the third time this year Boston lost an attempt to get over .500. Continue reading
The Atlanta Braves have scored just five runs in their last three games, but hope to get a big offensive boost on Tuesday for their second game against the Cincinnati Reds. Third baseman Chipper Jones is expected to be back after suffering a contusion on his left ankle.
Jones has been out since Friday after getting drilled by a B.J. Upton grounder, but told reporters on Monday he was recovering.
“It’s a little better,” Jones told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I still feel like I’m probably a day or two away. I have a golf-ball sized blister right there that has got to go away. Continue reading
The Boston Red Sox are one of those teams that won’t shake MLB Betting Odds one way or another. They were so good last year, yet fell flat at the end that bettors are weary in 2012. But when they fall flat to start 2012, oddsmakers didn’t pull the floor out and make them huge dogs for the World Series. Too much potential.

The Los Angeles Angels’ road trip started well with a win over the San Diego Padres on Saturday. But a lack of timely hitting put a quick halt to that. The Angels went 1 for 21 with runners in scoring position over their next two games against San Diego, losing both.

After bumbling through the past week, the Cardinals have been victimized by its own pitching staff, losing four in a row and eight of 10.
