Philadelphia Phillies Vs. San Francisco Giants MLB Betting Odds For April 16th, 2012

Tonight’s game between the Philadelphia Phillies and San Francisco Giants is supposed to be stingy. An epic showdown between pitchers who have won three of the last four National League Cy Young awards.

Leave your bat in the dugout kind of game.

But if the first two weeks of the season is any indication, it’s going to be a one-sided blowout in about two innings.

San Francisco’s Tim Lincecum has been miserable in his first two starts, surrendering 11 runs in just 7 2/3 innings with an ERA well over 12. He threw 76 pitches over just 2 1/3 innings in his last outing, the shortest of his career.

“”A lot of pitches thrown in 2 1-3,” Lincecum told the Associated Press after the game. ”Just sloppy baseball for me. Not really executing pitches, missing a lot, and it’s going to hurt you, especially in this park.”

Things don’t figure to get any better tonight as Lincecum faces Philadelphia’s Roy Halladay, who has been nearly perfect in his first two starts. He’s only allowed one run and seven hits over 15 innings, leading the Phillies to half of their four wins so far. Halladay’s ERA is 0.60.

Bovada favors that trend to continue, favoring the Phillies by 1 1/2 runs with a -116 moneyline. Bovada’s MLB Player Props page favors Halladay to have more strikeouts than his counterpart with a -105 payout.

But this could be a great opportunity for San Francisco’s ace to bounce back. He’s 4-1 lifetime against the Phillies with a 2.61 ERA. Plus, Philadelphia only managed to win one game in their series against the New York Mets over the weekend, winning 8-2 on Sunday.

They’re only scoring 3.11 runs per game with big boppers Chase Utley and Ryan Howard out of the lineup, and are 1-2 on the road.

The pair have never faced each other in the regular season, but split two meetings in the postseason. The good news for the Giants, is Halladay is a career 0-2 with a 7.23 ERA in the regular season. They have won three of their last four, driving their record back to 4-5 with a series win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Pablo Sandoval has been the team’s driving force, hitting safely in each game this year. He’s 3-for-7 lifetime off Halladay, too.
