San Francisco Giants Favored Over Colorado Rockies In MLB Betting Odds

So much for a slow start.

After dropping three of their first four games, the Colorado Rockies went bonkers for 17 runs in a landslide against the San Francisco Giants Wednesday night. And they did it against their division rivals’ ace Tim Lincecum. The All-Star right hander only lasted 2 1/3 innings, coughing up six runs to raise his ERA to 12.91 on the year. It was the shortest outing of his career.

”A lot of pitches thrown in 2 1-3,” Lincecum told the Associated Press. ”Just sloppy baseball for me. Not really executing pitches, missing a lot, and it’s going to hurt you, especially in this park.”

Colorado’s Carlos Gonzalez sparked the offense barrage, finally breaking out of his slump with three hits and four RBI.

“‘We got to Lincecum, who’s a really good pitcher and when you see all those guys coming from the bullpen early in the game, you have a lot of opportunity there,” Gonzalez told the AP.

The Giants started the year losing their first four games, and hope to get back on track with Madison Bumgarner on the mound. He will face Jamie Moyer, who, at 49 years old, is hoping to become the oldest pitcher to win a game in major league history. The pair are 27 years apart.

Oddsmakers aren’t betting on Moyer. MLB Betting Odds actually favor San Francisco by 1 1/2 runs with a -130 moneyline. Part of the reason is Vegas isn’t buying Colorado’s offensive surge, only projecting around four runs scored in Bovada’s MLB Team Props.

San Francisco will probably be without it’s best hitter again Thursday as Buster Posey recovers from shingles, and is favored for five runs.
